Scott and Lingo Recieve $1.2 Million Grant

Drs. Terry Scott, Chair and professor, and Amy Lingo, Assistant Chair and associate professor with the Department of Special Education, just received notification of funding of $1.2 million from the U.S. Department of Education to train doctoral level students in the area of Learning and Behavior Disorders with a focus on Response To Intervention (RTI).

Shuttle Retirement Party a Stellar Success!

The Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium hosted a Shuttle Retirement Party featuring a live broadcast of the final launch of Atlantis, Friday, July 8. The event was attended by over 260 adults and children and the excitement of seeing the launch could hardly be contained.

Major Kent Solheim – 2011 Alumni Fellows Award winner

Maj. Kent SolheimMajor Kent Solheim received his B.S. in Occupational Training and Development in 2002 and his Master of Science in Human Resource Education in 2008 from UofL’s College of Education and Human Development. He earned a Silver Star for his bravery during Operation Volcano II, the successful mission to capture a senior leader of the infamous Shiite militia, the Mahdi Army. He saved dozens of lives during the operation, but in the process lost his right leg.

He has also been awarded a Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, a Purple Heart Medal, a Meritorious Service Medal, and an Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters.

CEHD Faculty Partnering with JCPS on Turnaround Efforts
