Best Buddies and CEHD Selected for Community Engagement Award

The Best Buddies program was recently awarded UofL’s 2011 Outstanding Community Engagement Award in the Community Partner category. Nina Beck, instructor with the CEHD’s Department of Special Education, serves as the faculty advisor for the program.

Fuller Selected as Teacher of the Year

Beth Ann Fuller, a third grade reading and writing demonstration teacher at J.B. Atkinson Academy for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, was named the 2012 Kentucky Elementary School Teacher of the Year.

IDEALS Student Program Receives Community Engagement Award

The Louisville IDEALS Student Group, an initiative that is housed in the CEHD Department of Health and Sport Sciences’ Sport Administration program, and is a joint project with the Muhammad Ali Institute for Peace and Justice, was awarded the 2011 UofL Outstanding Community Engagement Award in the Student Category.

CEHD and UofL Faculty Receive $2 Million Grant

Tom Tretter, associate professor with the College of Education and Human Development’s (CEHD) Department of Middle and Secondary Education, will work with faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences and the Speed School of Engineering on a $2 million grant for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) initiatives.

Sports Admin Program
The Kentucky Speedway partnership for the NASCAR Quaker State 400 Sprint Cup allowed students the opportunity to assist Aquarius Sports and Entertainment with on‑site research – research kiosks, fan surveys, and intercept interviews during the event. The students also assisted with some social media projects.
