The winner of the 2008 CEHD Alumni Fellow Award is Russell Cox, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Norton Healthcare.

Cox joined Norton Healthcare in September 2000 and was appointed to his current position in 2005. He currently has direct executive oversight for major functions within Norton Healthcare such as finance, legal, information systems, Norton Ventures, mission and outreach.

Cox has more than 20 years’ executive experience in health care. Prior to joining Norton Healthcare, Cox  worked for Caritas Health Services, Humana Inc., Galen Healthcare and Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corporation.

Cox, a lifelong resident of Louisville, received his BS in Elementary Education and Master of Education degrees at UofL’s College of Education and Human Development.  He received his MBA from Vanderbilt University’s Owen School of Management.

The Alumni Fellows Award is given to prominent and outstanding alumni who are leaders in their professional fields.  The annual awards ceremony is traditionally held during Homecoming Week. The award winners are invited by the President to return to campus and share their expertise with students, faculty, staff and administrators.
