CEHD Faculty Highlights: New Research and Funding

Faculty at the College of Education and Human Development are committed to making our community and the world a better place for all through teaching, research, leadership and outreach. Their research positively impacts a variety of areas including K-12 schools, colleges, government agencies and private businesses.
Listed below are some of the grants that have recently been awarded to CEHD faculty members:
Amy Hirschy, Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology, and Leslye Erickson, UofL’s Career Development Center, have received an Ideas to Action grant of $5,000 for their research proposal, “Critical Thinking in Choice of Academic Major: Career Exploration, Decision Making, and Clarity” for Supporting Undergraduate iNnovation (SUN) Grants funding.
Jonathan Lee, Department of Teaching and Learning, has received an Ideas to Action grant of $5,000 for his research proposal, “Developing Parental Support for Children’s Early Language Development: An Intervention Plan” for Supporting Undergraduate iNnovation (SUN) Grants funding.
Nicole Fenty, Department of Teaching and Learning, received funding from the Intramural Research Incentive Grant Committee for her research proposal, “The Effects of Guided Reading on Adolescents with Severe Reading Deficits.”
Natalie Kosine, Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology, received $3,905 from the Intramural Research Incentive Grant Committee for her research proposal, “The Risking Connection Program: A Comprehensive Examination of Teacher and Student Relationships and Behaviors.”
Sophia Han, Department of Teaching and Learning, received $4,985 in funding from the Intramural Research Incentive Grant Committee for her research proposal, “Professional Development that Works: Enhancing teacher effectiveness in preschool classrooms to promote young children’s peer social competence.”
Penny Howell, Department of Teaching and Learning, has received $2,099 in funding from the Intramural Research Incentive Grant Committee for her research proposal, “English Language Learners in Focus: Predictors of academic achievement.”
