Ideas to Action:Using Critical Thinking to Foster Student Learning and Community Engagement (i2a), is a multi-year year effort, required by accrediting organizations, to promote meaningful transformation of the university’s undergraduate programs and build infrastructure to sustain these innovations.
The program is designed to enhance student’s critical thinking skills through curricular activities and assessments. Students are required to demonstrate these skills in a culminating experience such as a thesis, service learning project, internship or capstone project.
A component of i2a is the Faculty Learning Communities (FLC) which allows faculty members to engage in cross-disciplinary dialogue and structured activities related to i2a goals and outcomes.
Faculty across the University compete to be part of the FLC. Members are selected based on their demonstration of commitment to quality teaching and deepening their understanding and use of the critical thinking model.
