The Future Educators of America Camp (FEA) hosted by the Minority Teacher Recruitment Project was held in June and attended by 30 high school juniors and seniors interested in a career in education. Lohelen B. Hambrick, director of MTRP, stated the camp was a big success and the students really enjoyed it. Students attended workshops about teacher education, the SAT and ACT, professionalism, writing, computer technology, financial aid and college life. In addition, recent U of L teacher education graduates returned to speak to the groups about what it’s like to be a new teacher. For more information about MTRP, contact Lohelen B.
