The Math Science Partnership (MSP) provides funding for assessment of teachers’ content knowledge of math and science and their student’s achievement levels. The program is funded through the Kentucky Department of Education, ($200,000 per year for three years), and they are partnering with the Gear-Up Program which will match funding.

This year’s winners of the prestigious Grawemyer Award in Education are Edward Zigler, Walter Gilliam and Stephanie Jones, authors of the award winning 2006 book, A Vision for Universal Preschool Education. Using research gathered over four decades, the winners set out specific actions that can be taken to develop good universal preschool systems. They believe that making preschool available to all children age three and older would improve the school readiness of the nation’s young children, fill a gap for working families, lower the high school dropout rate, reduce crime and boost the economy.
