CEHD Student Selected for SREB Fellowship

June 25, 2009 in College News, Student Life

Brittany D. Carpenter, a PhD Student in the CEHD’s Department of Education Leadership and Organization Development, is the recipient of a Southern Region Education Board (SREB) Fellowship award. She is currently a Holmes Doctoral Scholar, and a Graduate Research Assistant in the Nystrand Center for Excellence in Education.

SREB Doctoral Scholars are a select group of students who are enrolled in SREB institutions, (http://www.holmespartnership.org/), and have goals to pursue leadership and faculty positions following graduation.

The Southern Regional Education Board’s Doctoral Scholars Program was developed with support from The Pew Charitable Trusts and the Ford Foundation. It is part of a nationwide initiative, the Compact for Faculty Diversity, to produce more minority Ph.D.s and to encourage them to seek faculty positions, (SREB website).
