The Kentucky Autism Training Center (KATC) at the UofL Autism Center is offering workshops for families and professionals to help them create a supportive and positive environment for those with autism.
One of the workshops, “Supporting Autism 24/7,” provides attendees with ideas and strategies for helping people with autism get through normal daily activities. Topics in this workshop include managing routines at home and tips for circumventing emotional distress in public places.
KATC’s newest workshop, “Navigating the Behavioral and Social World,” gives participants a deeper understanding of how a person with autism views and builds relationships. Attendees will learn what they can do to help those with autism develop and enjoy social bonds and interactions.
All workshops are held 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. at various locations throughout the state. To see a complete list of dates and locations, and to register, just go to KATC Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 Workshops.
