Planetarium Celebrates the Season with Family Events and Shows

The Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium is offering special and discounted shows for the holiday season. Show dates and descriptions are as follows:

  • Friday, Dec. 10, 8 p.m. – Skies Over Louisville, a tour of the heavens and a free sky map. If weather cooperates, the Louisville Astronomical Society will lead a stargazing program in the planetarium courtyard after the show. Tickets are $7 adults; $5 for UofL affiliates, kids under 13 and seniors over age 65.
  • Friday, Dec. 17, 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. – Planetarium Holiday Party, a show combo featuring Season of Light and Holiday Laser Music. Seasonal activities and treats for kids. Tickets are $5 per person.
  • Sunday, Dec. 19, 2 – 4 p.m. – Cosmic Explorer Workshop, an exploration of the coldest places in the solar system and demonstrations to show what happens at -320°F. Program is for 4-6 year-olds. Cost is $20 for members and $25 for non members. Registration is required the Friday before the workshop by calling 502-852-6664.
  • Dec. 20, 21 and 22, 10:30 and 2 p.m. each day – Double Feature Days, an opportunity to see Season of Light and Holiday Laser Music Show at a discount. Cost is $5 per person.
