Shuck Invited to London Seminar

Dr. Brad Shuck, assistant professor with the CEHD’s Department of Leadership, Foundations and Human Reosource Education, (pictured with Professor Katie Truss, Kent Business School at Medway), was invited to return to the University of Kent to present at a seminar for England’s leading scholars and practitioners in the area of human resource and organization development. The event also included policy advisors from British Parliament.
Dr. Shuck was invited to attend the seminar in 2011. This year, he was the only U.S. scholar to present at the seminar, and UofL was the only non-European university to be represented at the event. Dr. Shuck presented about his research on the effects of work on well-being. “The University and CEHD gained international attention for our emerging work in human resources and organization development,” stated Dr. Shuck. Shuck Receives Prestigious AHRD Award
Dr. Shuck was invited to guest edit a special issue of the Advances in Developing Human Resources which is published by the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD). The issue, “Employee Engagement and HRD: Linking Theory and Scholarship to Practice,” was selected for the Issue of the Year Award from the Advances in Development Human Resource Editorial Team and recognized by Sage Publishing as an outstanding contribution to the field. In other news, Dr. Shuck and Dr. Ann Herd, assistant professor in the Department of Leadership, Foundations and Human Resource Education, co-authored an article that was recently published in Human Resource Development Review, the top conceptual journal for the HR field. The article is now listed in the top 25 article for the entire journal–even though the journal has not yet gone to print.
