The CEHD”s Sport Administration Program (SPAD) hosted its 13th annual golf scramble on April 21. The event raised $5,500 for SPAD scholarships and the Boys and Girls Club Triple Play Program.
Each year, undergraduate and graduate students in the SPAD program must apply what they”ve learned in the classroom towards planning a sporting event. Students are responsible for all details of organizing the event and finding sponsors. This year”s sponsors included Bob Hook Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, Napa River Grille, Wild Eggs and a grand prize of Denny”s Grand Slam breakfasts for online casino one year.
Over 100 golfers participated in the scramble which was held at the Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, KY. “It was a great day for golf and a great day for UofL and the SPAD program,” said tournament director Amanda Shimp.
Students also choose which charity will benefit from a portion of the proceeds from the event. This year”s donation went to the Boys and Girls Club Triple Play program. “Our donation will help to further the mission of their program by promoting physical education, fitness and nutrition in the greater Louisville area,” stated Shimp.
